UK: Primary schoolchildren are coming home sunburnt as schools ban teachers from applying sun lotion

Experts say sunburn during childhood can more than double the risk of developing skin cancer as an adult.

Touching pupils, such as to apply sun cream or offer a reassuring hand, is not banned under government rules, with the official guidelines stating there are occasions ‘when physical contact… with a pupil is proper and necessary’

But in practice, many schools discourage teachers from touching pupils with controversial ‘no touch’ policies. Full Article

I have noticed that the UK is at times more ahead than the USA in terms of Lack of Common Sense and Stupidity levels. So 2/3 of parents want the rules to relax, yet the other 1/3 of parents wants their kids to experience health complications and possibly a death-causing disease of cancer? The stupidity is rampant in people. Interesting how other countries all over the world don’t have these ‘child abuse’ scares/fear and they’re doing just fine. In the ‘Western’ countries, it seems the government is trying to protect everyone from themselves, destroying personal freedom in the process and harming many more people than its ‘feel good, well-intentioned’ laws that it passes on a daily basis. What does this stem from? This screwed up way of thinking, which doesn’t make sense to most foreigners, is truly a Way of Life for Western countries.

When I first saw the headline I assumed this was another case of PC run amok and that it had become racist for white children to preserve their fair skin.
Somehow I am relieved that this story covers a different aspect of Western society’s rediculous paranoia:

Like the neighbors in San Bernardino and UK cops afraid to pursue criminal Muslims for fear of being labeled racist, people are now afraid to protect kids for fear of being flagged as perverts.
I wonder how many kids will drown this summer as lifeguards and others stand idly by, petrified by the fear of being accused of molesting, rather than helping a sinking child.
What new level of insanity is this? It is now more tolerable to be known as the coward who allowed the child injury or death rather than risk someone taking the normal and expected behavior, that of protecting children, out of context.
